Summary

A surveyor, also known as a land surveyor or geodesist, was a specialist in the field of land surveying. Surveyors worked with elements of geodesy, geometry, trigonometry, regression analysis, physics, engineering etc. One of their areas of work was a structural surveying - a detailed inspection to report upon the physical condition and structural stability of a building or structure, identifying the work needed to maintain it in good repair.
