IMP-A01b Battle Droid was a basic three-legged droid design which was used in the production of various droid models during the Cold War. While exceptions have been known, most of the droids that based on this design have been in Imperial service, where it was known as C-series War Droid. Full production ID for this design was droid.battledroid.imp_a01. It weighted about 150 kgs and had maximum speed of 47 km/h. Designed primarily to act as shock troops and mobile heavy weapon platforms, these droids also frequently served in patrol and escort duties where long of constant vigilance were required. Integrated communications systems ensured that the droids obey and cooperate with their human counterparts, though their tactical intelligence was limited when left without supervision. Basic model had primary reciprocate cannon installed in each of its two manipulators - which were configured to employ 70% of total generator output - and secondary multi-purpose turret mounted on its back. Secondary turret allowed various weapons to be installed, including extra repeating blaster cannons, grenade launchers or micro-fusion missile launchers. Droid's slim-frame legs arcticulation was designed to minimize overall weight. The construction of the droid allowed to install wide array of additional weapons - including head-mounted laser, auxillary combat systems and protective shileds.
