    A combination of surgery and genetic splicing. Amazing procedure. I'm the first to successfully perform it. It's not nearly as awful as you might think. The subjects feel no pain.

    It was all part of a rather ingenious plan. The Empire was secretly replacing Republic fleet officers with its own agents. Men enjoying their shore leave made perfect targets. The Imperials wanted saboteurs throughout the Republic's warships. They planned to destroy the vessels from within.

    Those saboteurs are loose. From what Lieutenant Rale said, you've already replaced some of our people.

    Yes, but they'll remain "sleepers" until they receive a signal to act. There's still plenty of time to apprehend them. The facility's commander was quite forthcoming, at least with me.

. Charnagus told the operatives that he only worked for the Imperials, but wasn't one of them, and revealed that the Empire was secretly planning to replace the Republic Navy officers with their own agents

 because they needed saboteurs on all Republic warships. The Imperials hired Charnagus to perform the surgery and literally replace the faces of the Imperial agents with the faces of captured Republic officers. Charnagus noted that he had succeeded, and many Imperial spies were already among the crew of the Republic ships, but they remained "sleeping" until they received the signal to act. The Doctor revived Trezin, who initially wanted to execute Charnagus, but when the Doctor offered to cooperate with the Republic on the same terms, he reluctantly agreed that it could benefit the Republic. However, the operatives decided not to cooperate with Charnagus because it was immoral, and Trezin was relieved to take the doctor into Republic custody.
Having completed the remaining tasks, the operatives returned to Ilox

Captain Trezin later contacted the operatives and informed them that Doctor Charnagus had been placed in prison and all Imperial saboteurs had been located and arrested before they could cause any harm.
