Summary
| The Republic Special Forces, officially the Republic Special Forces Division, was an elite military division comprised of the best of the best Republic troopers recruited from within the ranks of Republic Army. They were charged with aiding the defense of the Galactic Republic during the Great Galactic War and subsequent Cold War.Their headquarters was on Coruscant, inside the Senate Tower.The Special Forces division was devised by General Garza and officially founded in the aftermath of the Sacking of Coruscant. Unlike most army divisions, Special Forces is composed almost entirely of small squads of elite, highly trained soldiers specializing in irregular warfare. Relying on high mobility, extensive training and the latest military technologies, SpecForce squads exploited weaknesses that larger forces couldn't, giving the Republic military greater flexibility in addressing enemy threats. Standard assignments included reconnaissance, sabotage, asset recovery (enemy or friendly, personnel or materiel), search and destroy operations, and training and support for allied personnel.Special forces troops wore various types of standard trooper armor depending on goal and environment of each specific mission. Their weapons arsenal also varied greatly as commandos were trained to fight using any type of weapon, from a blaster pistol to a heavy assault cannon.During the Battle of Corellia SpecForce Division guarded Drall Library and Coronet Museum in Government District and Gilded Descent casino in Blastfield Shipyards sector.During the three-sided conflict between Republic, Empire and White Maw pirates on the planet Hoth, special forces included the numerous Talz commando and scout units. | ||
