Phipps believed that Set had important information about the Separatists, and before his capture, the Republic promised him protection if he revealed this information - but SIS was unable to arrive on time for the meeting. The operatives agreed to help, and Phipps referred him to his counterpart in Mantellian Army

However, Bendick believed a war-criminal like Set would be better off dead - Veem Set took out his brother's battle cruiser and killed thousands more - and suggested to the operatives that the Rodian could meet an unfortunate incident instead. Because he was in charge of payroll and had access to army's funds, he even offered the operatives a healthy sum to sweeten the deal. The operatives refused his offer, but he still hoped they would change their minds when they met Set.
Using a combination of stealth and hit-and-run tactics, the operatives made their way to the entrance to the base and got inside. Working on other tasks, the operatives discovered the detention sector of the stronghold and stormed inside. They quickly killed several guards and destroyed several security droids

. They searched the bodies and found the key to the holding cell where Veem Set was kept.
The operatives released Seth from the cell, but Rodian showed no gratitude, calling the operatives Republic dogs. They tried to reason with him at first, then even threatened to kill him, but Set wasn't intimidated, saying that if he was killed by operatives, they would put their own heads on the Republic's chopping block. Finally operatives decided to let him go, knowing that he wouldn't enjoy his freedom for long. Set also knew this and sarcastically suggested the Republic had agents just outside the base to extend even more of this fine "protection."
Set was captured by SIS agents when he went outside the separatists' base - exactly as he assumed. Later at Fort Garnik, when the operatives met with Phipps again, he told them that Set told SIS enough to crush the life out of the rebellion.
