Darth Vader, his back turned, is silhouetted in the gloom on the far side of the chamber. Among the various apparatuses surrounding them, a respirator tube now retracts from Vader's uncovered head. The head is bald with a mass of ugly scar tissue covering it. The black droid then lowers the mask and helmet onto Vader's head. Summary
| Han, Leia, Chewbacca, alongside C-3PO and R2-D2, made their way to the Millennium Falcon in time to escape Echo Base. The Falcon flew off and departed Hoth. While pursued by Imperial TIE fighters, Han realized that the hyperdrive has been damaged and he can't make a jump. He tried to fix the hyperdrive system but to no avail, and then decided to fly the Falcon into an asteroid field in attempt to to hamper the pursuit. He managed to evade pursuing TIEs that one by one collided with asteroids and land his ship inside a cavern on one of the large moon-sized asteroids.Vader ordered the Death Squadron to begin sweeping the asteroid field to find the Millennium Falcon. On the Executor, Vader communicates with the captains of the other ships, captain Lorth Needa told Vader that they should consider their damage, but Vader firmly replied that they will continue the search.Shortly afterward, Admiral Piett informed Vader that Emperor commanded that he make contact immediately. Vader ordered his ship out of the asteroid field for a clear transmission and contacted the Emperor. The next day, while cleaning mynocks off the Falcon, Solo and his companions were forced to escape what turns out to be a titanic space slug, which resided in the asteroid the Falcon landed on, and was disturbed by the TIE Bombers strafing runs.Back on the Star Destroyer, Vader enlisted the bounty hunters, Boba Fett, Dengar, IG-88, Bossk, 4-LOM and Zuckuss to find the Millennium Falcon for a "substantial reward". One of the Imperial commanders finally spotted the Falcon, leading to another pursuit which resulted in the Falcon making the insanely counter intuitive move of attacking the lead Star Destroyer. However, at the last moment, the ship veered off and secretly attached itself to the rear of the cruiser's command tower, which is not extensively covered by sensors, making it appear to have vanished from the Destroyer's point of view.When the fleet dispersed to search for the Falcon, the Rebels waited for the ship to do its standard dump of refuse before jumping, then detached to float away with it. The Falcon's hyperdrive still needed repairs, so Han decideed to make their way to Cloud City, a gas-mining colony run by his old friend Lando Calrissian. Unfortunately, Boba Fett had deduced the Falcon's escape and followed. | ||
