T8-C3 was an astromech droid who was assigned to the Republic Expeditionary Force during the Republic's initiative to resettle the planet Taris.When a joint team of the Taris Expeditionary Force and the Jedi Order set out on a research expedition into the Reclamation Zone around the Olaris spaceport, T8 was assigned to the expedition as a survey droid.The expedition were taking pollution readings in the ruins on the old Municipal Utility District when they found the medical holocrons. Jedi Master Tykan decided to get them back to the base right away for a study, and taking a small group of researchers with him, set off on a journey back.Shortly after they left, the expedition were ambushed by Death's Claw pirates. The pirates killed everyone, although Sergeant Valoy, one of the guardsmen, managed to warn Captain Nelex about the attack before he was killed. Although T8 escaped destruction, he suffered severe power loss and was unable to move.When Barsen'thor and Qyzen Fess arrived at the expedition's location and encountered T8, they were ambushed by pirates, who used T8 as a bait. The Jedi and Fess defeated the ambushers and spoke with the droid. T8 reported that the expedition had come under enemy attack and gave the Consular the last coordinates of the Tykan's team in the Sinking City region, which was outside the main resettlement zone.Consular and Fess went there, and T8-C3 was left to perform self-repair.
